VERBAL ABUSE ASSESSMENT TOOL - ARE YOU AN ABUSER?
by Patricia Evans
This interactive self-evaluation won't guarantee answers but it may give you a sense of where you fall on the spectrum. Are you more generally abusive or rarely if ever verbally abusive in your relationships? It may even give you pause to think about the way you have been treated by people you’ve cared about. If you are assessing a family relationship, one with a child, for instance, please change the term 'mate' to reflect that relationship, for example, 'son' or 'daughter' instead of 'mate'.
No one will see your responses so please approach this with the goal of increased awareness and choose the answer that seems most accurate. Verbal abuse stems from a desire, often unconscious, to control another person.
When you submit your answers your score will be generated with a scoring key.
